"How often do you guys get to spend time with each other anymore?" Collins asked, as their hot soup arrived, "I mean you must be working a lot, right? And Maureen's probably out on the town most of the time or something. Am I right?"

Joanne said, "Actually, unless she's at a bar or a performance, Maureen never goes out of the house."
She took a bite of her soup. "Mmmm.... This is good."

Maureen entered through the doors of the cafe and looked around. She hefted up her handbag and walked over to the table she saw all her friends at, ignoring the many cat calls she got on the way there.
"So is this where everyone comes to hide from me?" She asked as she took her sunglasses off.

Joanne smiled when her girlfriend came over to them.
"Hey, Honeybear," she greeted, pulling out the chair next to her for Maureen to sit down.

"Hi, guys," Maureen smiled in greeting. She reached over and kissed both Collins and Angel on the cheek before going to sit next to Joanne.
"But, seriously. Is this your little hideout? Because I've been all over this place looking for someone to talk to..."

"Yes, we come here every day to get away from you and talk all about everything you do," Joanne replied sarcastically, rolling her eyes. She smiled to show that she was just joking.

"Don't tell her our secret." Angel smiled at Maureen, making sure she knew that they were all joking. "Excuse me, I will be back." He added, getting up and heading to the bathroom.

"So what have been up to today, Maureen?" Collins asked as he leaned back in his chair.

Maureen's face lit up as she piled the shopping bags she had carried in onto the table. "Shopping! Where else?"
She picked up a heavy bag and poured out its contents, which consisted of dog food, a basket, ribbons, and tons of toys that jingle and squeak. "Not only for myself, but for Emmie too." She picked up a pink dog bone and squeaked it.

Joanne chuckled and shook her head. "My girlfriend and her baby."

"Who's having a baby?" Angel asked, sitting back down at the tale, only hearing the last few words of the conversation.

Collins chuckled, "No one. Maureen was just telling us how she was shopping for her and Emmie." He surveyed all the things on the table; then added on, "and it looks like you both hit the jackpot today!"

"Yeah!" Maureen cheered happily.
She picked up a little black knit sweater for Emmie and held it up to herself. "This is so cute! I wish they had a look alike in my size..."

Joanne couldn't help but smile. She wasn't that fond of the dog by herself but when Maureen talked about the dog it always sounded cute.
