Joanne woke up when Maureen stared moving around.
"Morning, Honey-bear..." she muttered, rubbing sleep out of her eyes.
Before she had her coffee, Joanne was not someone you wanted to mess with. The term 'not a morning person' didn't even begin to describe it. She didn't come alive until she had her morning caffine, her one addiction if you didn't count Maureen...

Maureen groaned in response, stuffing her face into her pillow and pulling the covers over her head.
"Let me sleep for another week..." she mumbled, her voice being muffled by the layers of blankets.

Despite her groggy state, Joanne managed to chuckle at Maureen's words.
"Get up and I'll make you breakfast," she offered, getting out of bed and straightening her pajamas.

"Bacon burned to a crisp, toast with lots of jam, and two eggs sunny side up."
Maureen slid out from underneath the blankets and onto the floor. She sat there for a while, on her knees, trying to get used to the sunlight and her throbbing headache. It vaguely crossed her mind that she would have to eventually move.

"Yeah, yeah, I know," Joanne replied, waving her hand in dismissal and walking out into the kitchen.
She figured by the time Maureen got out and about she'd be finished cooking. She started pulling out the pans and turned the stove on. She pulled out the eggs and bacon and began cooking them.

Maureen stared at the floor for a long period of time. Probably just around five minutes, but it seemed longer to her. Eventually, the little light bulb in her head turned on.
She came into the kitchen on her hands and knees, her hair tangled and draped over her face.

Joanne looked over at Maureen just as she was putting her girlfriend's food on the plate. She set the plate down so she didn't drop it in laughter.
"Honey, no offense, but you look like you got in a fight with a train... And I think the train won," she said, squatting down to be eye level with Maureen. She reached out a hand to brush the hair away from her face. "There's that pretty face."

Maureen frowned. "If by pretty you mean face smeared with makeup and me looking and feeling like the living dead."
She sat back on her ankles and stared at the floor. "You realize I'm not standing up for another few hours, right?"

Joanne shook her head and went to get the toast out of the toaster. She put Maureen's on the plate and put hers on her napkin. She took Maureen's plate over to the table and sat down on the other side.
"Okay, but your food's up here if you want it..." she tried to tempt.

The smell of food filled Maureen's nostrils, and even though she felt sick beyond words, her stomach was like a hollow log. Empty. She shuffled over on her hands and feet and then used the chair to lift herself onto it.
Once she was there, she grinned at her accomplishment and began digging into her food.

Joanne smiled when Maureen got up on the chair, as she'd known she would.
"Honeybear, Steve and I have a meeting in an hour but I should be back for lunch," she stated, eating her toast.
She got up to get some orange juice out of the frig.

"So you're going to leave me here all alone? What am I supposed to do?"
Maureen gulped down her milk and began scooping up the eggs. Her headache was beginning to subside. Maybe it was the food.

"Well some of us have to go to work to keep bacon and eggs on the table, Maureen," Joanne replied, rolling her eyes.
She sat back down at the table.
"Why don't you go back to sleep and I'll be home before you know it."

Maureen finished her eggs and reached for the jam smothered toast.
"But sleep is so boring. I'm not tired anymore. I wanna go do something!" She pouted, as if Joanne was her mom and just told her that she couldn't have dessert.

"I'll be home soon, I promise," Joanne replied, feeling herself falling ino Maureen's plan.
She left to the bedroom to get changed before she left.
